7-Year-Old Ridin’ Dirty

So, this morning while driving home from work I tuned into my local rock station 100.7, well it’s not really a rock station anymore it’s FM talk radio, but that’s a different rant — and heard the morning host Rover of Rover’s Morning Glory talk about this story.

This past Sunday, Latarian Milton, 7, of Palm beach Gardens, FL, decided to go out for a joyride because he wanted to do “hood rat stuff” for his friend. Yes, you read that right, a 7 year old wanted to do “hood rat stuff.” So he took the keys to his grandmother’s 2006 Dodge Durango and he and the friend he wanted to do “hood rat stuff” for went out on a little joy ride during rush hour.

From WPBF 25:

“We got the call about a driver in the vehicle who looked too short to see over the steering wheel,” said Ellen Lovejoy of the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.

Along the way, police said Milton ran over two mailboxes, hit two parked cars in a Costco parking lot and struck two moving cars near a Walmart.

“I wanted to do it because it’s fun. Fun to do bad things,” said Milton. “I wanted to do hood-rat stuff for my friend.”

Police said the joy-ride ended on Investment Lane and Consumer Drive when Milton hit a curb and sideswiped a sign. According to authorities the SUV took most of the beating — snapping off one of its axles and wheels.

“Well, right now I just want to whip his behind that’s what I want to do right now. If I thought they wouldn’t take me jail I’d whip his behind right now,” said Stratford.

When WPBF News 25 asked Milton if he felt he should be punished for his actions he said, “Just a little bit, no video games for a whole weekend.”

No video games for a whole weekend? If he were my child, how about no video games until your 18, or at least until a few years after you get out of the juvenile detention video. As a matter of fact, if he were my child I should be locked for my complete and utter lack of parenting skills — as should his legal guardians.

Watch the video and notice how this well on the path to being a future hard core criminal kid has absolutely no remorse for what he has done.

I know he is only a 7-year-old child, but any kid that shows so little compassion over potentially talking away human life and over causing as much damage as he did — all because he wanted to do “hood rat stuff” should not be punished like normal 7-year-olds would be for doing something wrong.

He should have to spend a day and night locked in a jail cell in an adult prison facility so he can witness what doing “hood rat stuff” will bring him in the future. Then he should be removed from his legal guardians, who obviously have no clue about parenting and then placed in a juvenile detention facility for a spell and then in foster care — hopefully for the kids sake with the family of a Preacher or some sort of clergyman.

His legal guardian, since the boy is only 7, should be charged with stealing their own vehicle and causing all the damage that was done. I think it’s only fair for raising a 7-year-old that wants to do “hood rat stuff.”
